Frequently Asked Questions:
Q) How much do you charge for disaster restoration?
A) Each job is a customized bid for your unique needs. OLDE FORT RESTORATION uses a standard pricing list, reflecting the same programs that most insurance companies utilize.
Q) How long will it take to dry out my home?
A) The length of time it takes to dry out a home or room varies from job to job. The industry standard is three days. In some cases, depending upon circumstances, it can take up to seven days for a complete dry out. OLDE FORT RESTORATION will determine when the dry out is complete by monitoring air quality and affected areas.
Q) My home smells bad, why is that?
A) With water damage cleanup unusual odors are to be expected. Often the carpet and other wet items cause odors due to high humidity levels and the temperature in the affected area. The quicker that padding is removed and carpet starts to dry, the faster smells will disappear.
Q) Is my furniture (personal contents) ruined and will I have to throw them out?
A) Our specialized personal content recovery technicians can repair most damaged furniture and electronics minimizing the items that need replacing after a disaster. Our goal is to reduce your claim and increase your satisfaction. Items that are damaged beyond repair can be handled by OLDE FORT RESTORATION as well. We will safely remove them from your property and professionally dispose of them.
Q) What type of water is this? Is this water dangerous?
A) Each water damage is a unique situation. Here are common categories of water intrusion:
Category 1 Water: This water is clean at the releasing source and does not pose a hazard if consumed by humans. Category 1 Water may become progressively contaminated as it mixes with soils from floor coverings or building assemblies (walls, decking, and subflooring). Time and temperature, which promote the growth and amplification of microorganisms in water, can cause Category 1 Water to degrade. Examples: burst water pipes, failed supply lines on appliances, sink and bathtub overflows, and vertically falling rainwater.
Category 2 Water: This water has some degree of contamination and could cause sickness or discomfort if consumed by humans. Category 2 Water is known as Grey Water and is contaminated. As with Category 1 Water, time and temperature can cause Category 2 Water to become progressively more contaminated. Examples: Discharge from dishwasher or washing machine, overflow of a toilet, or water seepage from hydrostatic failures.
Category 3 Water: This water is highly contaminated and could cause death or serious illness if consumed by humans. Category 3 Water is referred to as Black Water. Examples: sewage, rising flood water from rivers and streams, ground surface water flowing horizontally into homes.
